RES Virtual Desktop Extender (VDX)  is now available and shipping to customers exclusively as a standalone offering. Announced recently as a standalone solution, and on the heels of receiving European and United States patent approval, VDX enables enhanced interoperability with leading desktop virtualization solutions, including Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop, VMware View and Microsoft Remote Desktop Services, in addition to niche profile management solutions like AppSense Environment Manager. As a result, customers using a diverse mix of technologies at varying lifecycles in their terminal server and virtual desktop deployments, are able to easily merge local applications into users’ virtual desktops.

VDX serves as a fundamental component in the successful deployment of virtual desktops because it enables local applications that typically do not run smoothly, or at all, in virtual environments to run seamlessly within a virtual session. This functionality, commonly referred to as “reverse seamless,” is becoming even more critical as multimedia and communication-based applications continue to increase in bandwidth-intensiveness. VDX ensures these applications run efficiently and directly to the end-user without interruption or delay. It also works with various virtual desktop enabling technologies making it an ideal fit for any organization undergoing this desktop transformation.
