SonicWALL is announcing the new WAN Acceleration Appliance (WXA) Series, an extension of the current Next-Gen Firewall suite.


The WXA Series consists of the WXA 5000 virtual appliance, the WXA 2000 and WXA 4000 hardware appliances, and the WXA 500 Live CD. The series significantly improves WAN (Wide Area Network) performance between regional and branch offices and gives users faster access to mission-critical applications, resulting in increased employee productivity.

Unlike traditional WAN acceleration products that sit outside of the security boundary, the WXA solution seamlessly integrates with SonicWALL® Next-Gen Firewalls to provide deep packet inspection scanning for all traffic across the network.  The NGFW enables IT-administrators to identify and control access to applications that aren’t business critical.
